The Cd, Nadaswaram by Kalaimamani Sembanarkovil Brothers S. R. G. Sambandam and S. R. G. Rajanna has kept the town talking. They have presented beautiful Thyagaraja kritis and unique Tamizh padams in this Cd. This compilation has been recorded in the 70’s to 80’s during their prime time of their musical caliber. This compilation starts with a traditional and auspicious Mallari set to Gambiranaatai ragam. This joyous piece has been presented with all the laya intricacies, and is a fine show piece for the legendary Sembanarkovil bhani. They also handled unique ragas such as Saraswathi, Janaranjani and Kanada in a very enchanting way. They have presented very rare and difficult prayogams in these glorious yet gentle ragas. Magudi, a folk tune that keeps their listeners spellbound and an extremely perfect way to end a rare repertoire.

RAKTHI MELAM

The penchant for innovations is evident in the Sembanarkovil Brother’s unique and exceptional rendering of Rakthimelam. Gnana Vinayakaane, a kriti in ragam Gambiranaatai is an auspicious beginning for all their listeners. This is followed by the heritages Thyagaraja kriti Orajoopuju which is set to Kanadagowla, a rare raga. Eppo Kanbeno being a precious Tamizh padam has been presented with divine feelings that paint the meaning of Bhakti. This padam which is set to ragam Rathnambari which is a priceless gift that was handed over to the Sembanarkovil Brothers by their ancestors that kept their audience enthralled always. The well known Allaipayuthey is another added colour to this Cd. The English note that was composed by the Sembanarkovil legends which draws the harmonic bond between the western notes and the Carnatic instrument. These are not the regular notes that are rendered in the recent musical era.
